The brand name Bushpig was originally conceived by Valmay Edwards and her partner Steve in Knysna and was originally used to market Valmay’s incredible artistic creations of mythical beasts which were silkscreened by Steve.

I had been obliquely involved as a purchaser of their silkscreen fabrics for my art gallery in Port Elizabeth. As they were not using the name Bushpig solely for their products, I asked for permission to register the name for my email domain, which was granted by Steve.

After Steve’s death, Valmay continued to market her fabrics for a while but eventually sold the business. I have kept the name alive by using it for my blog identification and of course my email address and which has now evolved into an online shop.
